Civil Guard agents belonging to the Buenavista del Norte Post, in Tenerife, have arrested a 35-year-old man, a resident of the town of Los Silos, as the alleged perpetrator of five crimes of animal abuse, four of them aggravated with of death and one resulting in injuries, as well as a crime against public order.
The investigation began after the Civil Guard agents learned of the publication on a well-known social network in which a female dog was observed injured with what appeared to be an arrow.
During the investigation, the agents managed to find out and verify that the attack on both dogs had been carried out with a gun and arrows, one of them entering the animal that later died and which turned out to be a female dog that was pregnant, and injuring the other. , a male dog, apparently on one of the legs. The female had been found by a person who took her to the veterinarian, where she died after they managed to perform a cesarean section, managing to save seven of her ten puppies.


The agents managed to identify, locate and arrest the alleged perpetrator of these “serious” criminal acts, as the Civil Guard has described them. After the corresponding judicial authorization, the agents found in the detainee’s home the weapon used to commit the crimes, a crossbow, approximately 500 arrows and bolts (projectiles for crossbows), as well as 10 shooting bows, two laser pointers, three brass knuckles, a 30 centimeter dagger and various related material.
The detainee, along with the proceedings carried out, has been placed at the disposal of the Investigative Court of Icod de los Vinos.
The Civil Guard has thanked the “great citizen collaboration” to clarify the “serious criminal acts committed against two animals”, since, thanks to the help and information provided by witnesses and neighbors, not only was the alleged perpetrator arrested crimes, but also the lives of seven of the puppies could be saved.
