SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 24. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, has hoped to have with the new Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz, the dialogue that did not exist with Ione Belarra, who “did not even deign to return a call”, to answer the “serious problem” that exists on the islands with unaccompanied migrant minors.
This is what he said this Friday in a statement to the media in which he highlighted the importance of there being an “understanding” with the new minister that has not existed to date and that the existing commitment in the Canarian Agenda is fulfilled. so that there is a legislative modification and these minors are cared for “as they deserve.”
On the other hand, Clavijo did not understand the reason why Frontex has not yet been deployed, understanding that the European Union should have a single policy regarding immigration before the European elections on June 9.
Here, he recalled that a work that he influenced during his recent visit to Brussels, where he also highlighted also including the ‘Atlantic route’ in the debate on immigration, and not only the ‘Mediterranean route’.
