SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 23 (EUROPA PRESS) –
A total of 62 third sector entities and more than 300 volunteers gathered today, Thursday, at the Island Volunteer Fair, which the Tenerife Cabildo celebrates in the municipality of Los Realejos. The vice president and the Councilor for Social Action of the Cabildo, Lope Afonso and Águeda Fumero, inaugurated this event together with the mayor of Los Realejos, Adolfo González.
Lope Afonso highlighted the importance of volunteering in our society and assured that this fair “is an opportunity to make visible the work of volunteer entities, offering a meeting to share experiences and activities, in addition to raising awareness about the fundamental role it has in Tenerife solidarity and voluntary action”.
The Minister of Social Action, Águeda Fumero, took advantage of the opening ceremony of the Fair to highlight the work carried out by the third sector associations in Tenerife, who she assured that they do “priceless work and constitute a fundamental aspect of the action in the social sphere, addressing situations where the administration cannot reach”.
Águeda Fumero assured that this fair “will be very important for the interrelation between the different entities, and also to expand their possibilities when it comes to increasing resources to develop their social work.”
The counselor highlighted that the vocation of the Fair, beyond promoting volunteerism, “is to materialize actions that result in an increasingly prepared and broader social network, which has increasingly greater reach when it comes to responding to the needs social”.
The mayor of Los Realejos, Adolfo González, highlighted “the double objective achieved of having enabled a large-scale space, with accessibility, furniture and technical and human resources at the service throughout the day to contribute to the visibility of each and every one of the participating volunteer entities, as well as the opportunity that this meeting has meant for them in which to weave networks among themselves, get to know each other first-hand and open the possibility of future collaborations, of more community work.
Finally, the Councilor for Social Welfare of Los Realejos, Luz Pilar García, wanted to highlight “the total predisposition of all the island and municipal staff who have put themselves at the service during all these past weeks until today to be able to carry out this event.” of social visibility, as well as the more than 60 leading entities of the fair for their own career in the field of volunteering, an example of altruism and solidarity, and for wanting to be present at this meeting, since without them it would not make sense to carry it out. “.
The associations participate in this Fair through information stands, talks, workshops, exhibitions and other activities such as exhibitions or simulations, encouraging participation, interaction and the development of synergies with visitors.
The Fair also allows the connection between entities, through a Networking space. In this space, conditioned for the meeting, a place was established to begin a process of creation, expansion and strengthening of the network of contacts and support between entities, and achieve shared benefits through conscious collaboration over time.
