He Granadilla City Council reported this Thursday that they have been rescued 182 offspring of Cory’s Shearwater who were transferred to the ‘La Tahonilla’ wildlife recovery center, where expert veterinarians will monitor their evolution until they are fully recovered and released.
This initiative, whose objective is the safeguarding of the chicks injured in their first flight of the emblematic Canarian seabird, began on October 23 and lasted until last Sunday, November 19, details the City Council.
The Granadilla Civil Protection Group offered its base as a collection site in the south of Tenerife, taking charge of the collections and transfers of the municipalities of San Miguel, Granadilla and Arico, recovering a total of 182 shearwater chicks, a gray heron and an injured baby turtledove.
