The Cabildo of Tenerife counts on the Tenerife Coastal Action Group in its marketing campaign for local fishing products, designed with the purpose of promoting the consumption of products from local and sustainable fishing.
The Primary Sector advisor, Valentín González, recently chaired the GAC assembly, in which the new strategy to be developed by this group was established, focused on improving the marketing of local fishing products, optimizing the operation of fishing organizations, promoting the generational change in the sector and recognize the fishing and coastal cultural heritage.
The lines of work of the Tenerife Fisheries Action Group also include the care of the marine environment and the coordination of the uses of maritime and coastal space.
The Tenerife Coastal Action Group is a non-profit association, made up of economic (private sector), social (fraternities, associations) and public (administrations) agents, related to the coast and the fishing sector of Tenerife.
The group is managed by a board of directors elected from among its members and chaired by the Primary Sector advisor of the Tenerife Cabildo, Valentín González, according to a note from the Cabildo.
One of the main objectives of the GAC Tenerife is the management of the axis aimed at the participatory local development of the fishing area of Tenerife as a collaborating entity of the Government of the Canary Islands, so it is necessary to have a strategy that establishes the objectives to be achieved. through the subsidy of projects throughout the next budget period of the European Maritime Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund.
