The president of Tenerife CouncilRosa Dávila, has shown this Tuesday “completely agree” with the position of the mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrezabout the municipality’s road planning but at the same time has defended that measures must be “taken” while the works are being carried out in the TF-5 highway.
In statements to journalists during the signing of an agreement to remove vehicles from the roads first thing in the morning, he advocated changing mobility patterns because if not, future roads will also be “collapsed.”
In that sense, he has asked for “a little more time” to evaluate the definitive closure of link 14 of the TF-5 near Guamasa, which for now will remain open until it is analyzed how to improve traffic on the surrounding roads.
Dávila has insisted that “the mayor understands that for the first time initiatives are being taken decisively”, some of them with “greater effect” than others, and furthermore, that they do not arise from the sole initiative of a public institution but also from the companies and civil society.
Thus, the president has acknowledged that she is in favor of building the ring road, the Gorgolana tunnel, burying the TF-5 and extending the tram to the Los Rodeos airport, and in the specific case of closing the link from Guamasa, has commented that “the residents of Guamasa are as important” as “those who have been in a queue for 20 years from Icod, La Orotava, Los Realejos or Puerto de la Cruz.”
In that sense, he commented that they have observed “significant savings times” and it is about, based on the final decision made, that “everyone is as comfortable as possible.”
However, he insisted that “the important thing is to remove vehicles from the roads” because that “is noticeable”, stressing that in the last meeting with the CEOE-Tenerife transport commission, up to just over 1,000 heavy vehicles were counted on the road. island. “If they leave peak hours there will surely be relief,” he commented.
