SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 17 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo of Tenerife will open this Monday one lane in each direction on the TF-5 as it passes through Icod de los Vinos, specifically a section that was affected by the emergency works to consolidate the slope.
The Minister of Highways, Dámaso Arteaga, indicates in a note that the works have corrected the defects detected on August 23 when a landslide was recorded at kilometer point 55 of the TF-5 as it passed through the municipality, which caused the cut of the link at exit 55 (TF-66- Icod de los Vinos) and the TF-5 roundabout at kilometer point 50+800 in the direction of El Tanque.
“I want to thank the drivers and users of this road for their patience during the period that the lane closure lasted, but the work is necessary because in the area there are parts of fallen trees and medium and large rocks, so there are that we had to act immediately to avoid this risk, stabilizing the slope and reducing the risk of it falling, since the closure of the TF-5 highway would affect about 10,000 vehicles a day,” explains Dámaso Arteaga.
The Cabildo has invested almost half a million euros in the rehabilitation works of the slope and the award of the work has fallen to the company Signalaciones Villar SA, with a period of six months.
The works consist of clearing the slope by cutting and removing vegetation; removal of blocks and unstable or loose material with risk of detachment and construction of an access track and a concrete wall.
