SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 17 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, and the vice president, Lope Afonso, presented next year’s budget this Friday, which amounts to 1,040 million, to the 31 municipalities of the island during the celebration of the Insular Council of Territorial Administration (CIAT). ) held at the Island Palace.

The budget of the Cabildo de Tenerife increases by 9.9% in 2024, exceeding 1,000 million for the first time in the history of the institution, reaching a consolidated budget of 1,138 million euros.

Dávila and Afonso pointed out that the budgets have a “marked social character”, to the point that the Social Action area takes 62% of the Cabildo’s total budget, stating that “investment in people” is prioritized.

Along these lines, he added that they have prepared a budget that “offers more opportunities to people, with an increase in social spending that reaches the record figure of 17 million euros.”

Afonso assured that it is a budget that “will relaunch Tenerife without leaving anyone behind”, highlighting that “it maintains a municipal balance that is the result of the joint work of all the government areas of the Cabildo.”

The Cabildo’s budgets for 2024 dedicate 38% to actions and strategies to boost the island’s economy, “seeking administrative simplification and the elimination of bureaucratic obstacles” and “special efforts will be dedicated to the recovery process after the consequences of the fire which began on August 15, working towards a more intelligent management of natural spaces and a boost in the primary sector”.

In this sense, they agreed that they have obtained a budget to “protect and enjoy” the identity of the island, “take care of the green heritage, energize the island with culture and enhance the primary sector and traditions.”

Rosa Dávila and Lope Afonso also highlighted the “real commitment” of the Cabildo, which has been transferred to the budget, with the responsible management of water in Tenerife, not only to guarantee agriculture, but also in relation to the elimination of discharges and the protection of beaches, coasts and ocean.
