The mayor of the Villa of San Juan de la Rambla, Juan Ramos Reyesafter receiving in recent days the final results of the specific analyzes carried out on the Water for consumption, reports that “the running water of San Juan de la Rambla is suitable and the radioactivity parameters are within normal limits. This is supported by the results of the laboratory and which have been posted in the SINAC in order to give it the greatest transparency.”
Given this, the Councilor recalls that “on May 16, 2023, the press published a news item under the headline “Excess radioactivity detected in the drinking water of a ramblero tank”, which referred to the last two analyzes carried out on the Aquilino-Las Rosas deposit, which showed results of parameters that, despite being historically common due to the characteristics of the water and its collection being of underground origin, were marked in red due to the change in minimum and maximum parameters included in Royal Decree 3/2023. However, and despite the fact that the so-called “radioactivity” is a common element in all underground aquifers, we decided to commission analyzes from a specialized company to limit the galleries that supply us with water with greater and lesser radioactivity and to be able to counteract the values that they reach the warehouses. Once the results of these analyzes have been received, it is clear that it was a fortuitous condition and that the water supplied for consumption is suitable and without risk.”
Once this situation is resolved, Ramos highlights the need to prioritize neighborhood well-being and calm as opposed to creating unfounded social alarms, especially in those who hold public office. “It already happened when I directed the Water and Sanitation area in the previous mandate and it happened again in the current mandate. I trust that these events will stop being used as a weapon against the municipal government and that we will act with the necessary prudence so as not to create alarm among our neighbors, with the prudent responsibility that must be kept in mind by those who have the honor of being a councilor, both in the government as well as in the opposition.”
“With the good news that the analyzes prove us right when we stated that the water from San Juan de la Rambla was suitable, we remind our neighbors that from the first moment they can access all the analyzes carried out on drinking water, being published monthly, and without fail, on the Transparency portal of our website,” concludes the Mayor.
