The Government Council of the Canary Islands has approved today, Monday, the appointment of Jonathan Domínguez, until now spokesperson for the Canarian Coalition (CC) in the La Laguna City Council, as the new Deputy Minister of Communication and Media Relations
This Monday, Jonathan Domínguez sent a letter to the mayor, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, in which he communicated his resignation as a councilor of the La Laguna City Council due to his appointment as deputy councilor of the Government of the Canary Islands.
In the letter, to which Europa Press has had access, Domínguez shows his “gratitude” to all the staff of the Consistory after 16 years of political activity, emphasizing that he has learned “a lot” in the Corporation and that he has obtained an “immense encyclopedia of knowledge, skills, learning, experiences and, above all, great friendships.
He has acknowledged that it is “very sad” for him to hand over the councilman’s certificate because “fighting for La Laguna and its people” has been the hallmark of his political life, but he understands that “he has to make decisions” and carry out his work where he feels “useful.” for citizens, in this case in the Government of the Canary Islands.
“With this writing, in addition to resigning from my position as a councilor, I want to convey this heartfelt gratitude to all the people who make possible the very existence of the La Laguna City Council as a local administration and institution, and the provision of its services to improve life. of the people, for whom I will always be willing to work responsibly, and in the conviction that in the future we will meet again,” concludes the resignation letter.
Domínguez’s departure accelerates the negotiations between PSOE and CC to sign a government pact in the municipality that would protect the absolute majority with a total of 18 councilors, in line with the investiture pact signed between socialists and nationalists where the door is opened to favor governability and stability in institutions, the case of La Laguna, where Gutiérrez governs as a minority.
