The Los Llanos de Aridane City Council has assigned a series of Civil Protection personnel to collaborate with the island of El Hierro in the face of the migration crisis. Specifically, the City Council has assigned a total of six personnel and two vehicles who, in a phased manner, have been working in the municipality of La Frontera, which in the last week has housed more than 800 migrants.
The Councilor for Security and Emergencies, Francisco Acosta, thanked the volunteers for their dedication, who in recent days have joined the work coordinated by their counterparts in La Frontera. “Our Civil Protection colleagues do a fundamental job, on the front line of the emergency, which allows them to provide support to other troops and distribute tasks so that migrants are cared for in the most efficient way possible,” he added.
For his part, the mayor, Javier Llamas, pointed out the importance of supporting each other between administrations in these types of situations. “We are at the disposal of the Government of the Canary Islands and, of course, the Cabildo of El Hierro and, in this specific case, the City Council of Frontera, to provide our help at a critical moment, in which the lives of many people are in danger. risk,” said the mayor.
