He Arinaga Yesterday, Soco Negro and San Pedro Mártir condemned the massive fight that occurred at the end of the clash between the former’s fiefdom and their respective youth teams, in the match of the eighth day of group III of the Second Category played at night on Friday and which ended with a 0-1 in favor of the visiting team.
After the match ended, a massive fight took place on the field of play in which players and fans from both teams participated. The altercation forced members of the public force to appear at the sports facility.
The trigger for this unpleasant incident, according to eyewitnesses, was the inappropriate reaction of a San Pedro Mártir footballer. He had been sent off by the referee and made an obscene gesture – a comb – to the fans of the local team. From there the fight broke out.
«After the events that occurred in the match between our youth team against San Pedro Mártir, we want to communicate that we condemn and regret what happened between both fans at the end of the match. “We are against any senseless act of violence that is unrelated to sport,” explains the Arinaga Zoco Negro in a statement made public through his social networks.
«For our part, we want to apologize to Saint Peter the Martyr. “Both clubs were involved in acts in which we are totally unrelated and which deeply saddens us,” the letter concluded.
But this was not the only violent incident last week in Canary Islands football.
This time it happened in Tenerife. Last Wednesday, the match of the third round of the Queen’s Cup between Real Unión de Tenerife Santa Cruz and Sporting Club de Huelva left an unpleasant moment: an episode of racist insults by a sector of the local fans towards a visiting soccer player, the Venezuelan Raiderlin Carrasco.
«I note that in the 88th minute of the match, with the ball in play, from the public area located behind the local technical area, behind my assistant referee number 1, several Real Unión de Tenerife Santa Cruz fans, identified as such for encouraging said team and reproaching me for the decisions made against them during the match, they have addressed the visiting player number 4 Carrasco Vargas, Raiderlin Nazareth in the following terms: Caramono! “Fucking black woman!, shouting and on several occasions,” reflected the referee in the minutes.
