SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 11 (EUROPA PRESS) –
‘Vermächtnis’, a film by Alfonso Medina set in the Second World War and shot in German, was chosen as the best short film in the first edition of ‘Rodando con historia’, the audiovisual section of the Ciudad de Tacoronte Historical Novel Festival. The gala in which the awards were presented took place this Friday night at the municipality’s Capitol Auditorium.
The award was presented by the mayor and Councilor for Culture of Tacoronte, Sandra Izquierdo, who highlighted the active participation of the ten filming teams and confirmed that the audiovisual section of Tacoronte Historica has arrived at the Festival to stay, given that it will continue . Izquierdo assured that the incorporation of ‘Rodando con historia’ to the program of this cultural event is one of the factors that have given a solidity of content that exceeds expectations for a third edition.
According to the vote of the more than 80 people present at the gala, the audience award went ex aequo to the films ‘Vermächtnis’ and ‘Eco’ -directed by Zoe Mouillon, Ancor Jiménez, María Pineda and Mariángel de la Fuente- , an experimental piece about the echoes of the past that still resonate in the present. The protagonists of ‘Vermächtnis’, Karin Pérez and Timo Schorren, share the award for best performance.
The jury, made up of Santiago Torres, Alejandro Machín, Joche Rubio and Daniel Sanginés, also awarded the prize for best photography to the film ‘Akelarre’, by Fidel Yepes. In addition, he gave special mentions for editing to Luchas Sancho, for ‘Eterno’; for the art direction and characterization of ‘Lorca Tragedy’, by Kalius; for the sound of ‘Eco’ and for the motto of ‘Time Capsule’, by Berty Lucio.
The list of participants is completed with the short films ‘Tea with votes’, directed by Cristina Cuadros; ‘The Conquest’, directed by Marta Ángel López; ‘Ucronía’, by José A. Domínguez, and ‘Liten Pik’, by Azul Garret. Altogether, the ten shorts tell different stories, framed in the concept of historical cinema according to the free creative interpretation of their directors and scriptwriters.
“We have not set limits on creation; creators need absolute freedom to manage their own concept of history and historical cinema,” explained filmmaker Cándido Pérez de Armas, director of ‘Rodando con historia’ with Braulio Fernández. This creative freedom translates into the result obtained: the most unique and distant approaches, to the point that, in a total of ten short films, genres as diverse as comedy, historical drama, horror and some experimental pieces are found.
