The delegation led by the president of the Group, the mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, will meet with professionals from the sector on November 14 in Oslo, in an event in which the mayors of Ávila, Jesús Manuel Sánchez Cabrera, will also participate. and Toledo, Carlos Velázquez Romo, along with the mayor of Úbeda, Antonia Olivares.
The second stage of the trip will be on November 16 in Stockholm, where the president of the Group will be accompanied by the mayor of Ávila and the mayor of Úbeda.
Luis Yeray Gutiérrez indicates in a statement that through the alliance of the heritage cities with Madrid Destino they intend to promote in northern Europe their heritage and monumental offering, as well as the ease of connections that allows “fast and comfortable” trips from Madrid by the 15 cities in the network.
He emphasizes that the Nordic tourist “has great interest” in cultural destinations and nature, and the idea of this promotional action is that “they get to know better everything that 15 unique cities offer, which hold a good part of Spain’s world heritage assets.” “, and “unique events”, such as the celebration of Holy Week.
The Group’s international promotion campaign in 2023 also includes technical and institutional presentations aimed at professionals in the sector in the Netherlands, so another promotional action is planned on November 23 in Utrecht, within the framework of the collaboration agreement with Paradores of Tourism.
In 2022, around 1.25 million Norwegian tourists visited Spain, which represented 1.8% of the total, spending 1,514 million euros (1.7% of the total).
