He Tenerife Council The forest fire that originated in Arafo on August 15 has been declared extinguished today, Friday, November 10, and ended up spreading up to 12,000 hectaresaffecting a total of 12 municipalities on the island.

The president of the Cabildo, Rosa Davilapoints out that “it is the best news we can give and I take advantage to, once again, thank the work of all the people and entities that have participated in the extinction work. There is still a lot of work ahead to recover our mountains, but we can finally extinguish the fire that has kept us in suspense since mid-August.”

Dávila explains that “even though the fire has been extinguished, that does not mean that you can freely access the affected areas because there is a risk of landslides and falling trees. In addition, the ground has also suffered the effects of the fire and subsidence may occur, so we ask the population to Take extreme precautions when going to the mountains”.

He Tenerife Council has also proceeded to deactivation of the Territorial Insular Emergency Plan (PEIN)which is the main tool that the insular Corporation has to face extraordinary emergency situations that involve serious collective risk.
