The cancellation of debt from previous years for more than four million or six million for investments and the “improvement” of municipal services such as public lighting, gardens or road repair. These are the main achievements attributed to the municipal government of Tacoronte, made up of PSOECC and PP, in the first four months of management. The Tacorontera mayor, Sandra Izquierdo (PSOE), the first deputy mayor, Noemí García (CC), and the second deputy mayor, José Caro (PP), agreed to offer a “positive” balance.
The Tacorontero tripartite also highlighted the activation of the Strategic Subsidy Plan, endowed with more than one million euros to be distributed among 76 federated entities and athletes; the drafting of the budget for 2024 or the configuration of the new Plan Employment Social for a hundred people, with a budget of 1.8 million. Local leaders highlight the “decided commitment to hiring new people through projects and agreements promoted jointly with other administrations.”
The municipal government plans to approve “shortly” the First Municipal Equality Plan, as well as a digitalization project to promote the business and commercial fabric of the city. The three officials also highlighted the tasks carried out in terms of protection and security during the last forest fire, the creation of a Local Safety Board after almost five years without convening and the massive participation in the past Festivals of Christ, “with an impact unprecedented economic situation for the city,” agreed Sandra Izquierdo, Noemí García and José Caro.
In Social Services they highlighted that an increase of 15,000 euros has been achieved for emergency aid, with 200 families benefiting from school aid. Likewise, they recalled that the bidding process for the service contract for the management of the Naranjos de Luz occupational center has been launched and “the municipality’s Nursery School has been significantly improved.” Regarding the problem of social emergency housing, they detailed that “work continues to care for the families that currently occupy public residences, with the aim of locating the best housing solution for each of them, according to the ordinance in force.
In Works and Services, the Tacorontero Government highlights the new maintenance and conservation service for public schools and municipal buildings, the improvement of lighting in buildings and roads, including the incorporation of LED technology and the approval of an extension of the service contract to avoid an energetic chaos; or the implementation of the resurfacing plan for almost a hundred roads. Also the inauguration of the San Jerónimo square and leisure area. The El Pris fishermen’s brotherhood, the municipal cemetery or the Agua García public fountains are other spaces where work has been done to significantly improve their facilities.
The establishment of a Wi-Fi network in all public buildings and neighborhood associations, the launch of a new municipal web portal, the expansion of the Hoya Machado park or the minor modification of the plot attached to the health center are other “achievements” reached by the tripartite, according to those responsible. The work carried out in these first four months of mandate “has also made it possible to allocate 60,000 euros in educational support aid for non-compulsory studies or the activation of the stabilization process for municipal personnel. Regarding termites, the City Council collaborates in a new colony biodetection project, through the participation of dogs.
