The National Police have arrested a man for a crime against public health, when a marijuana plantation was discovered in his home. The man tried to flee through the window when he was surprised by the police operation.
The man is 34 years old and has a police record, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health, against road safety, robbery or theft of use of a vehicle and burglary. In addition, the detainee had two search and arrest warrants in force issued by two different courts on the island of Tenerife.
Indoor marijuana plantation in Tejina
National Police investigators obtained information indicating that a man had an indoor marijuana plantation in a home in Tejina where he allegedly stored and dried it for later distribution.
According to the Police in a statement, the person under investigation adopted all kinds of precautionary measures and evaded police presence at all costs, given that he was wanted by two different courts on the island of Tenerife. There was evidence of his escape from a police checkpoint in the capital of Tenerife aboard a stolen vehicle.
13 kilograms of marijuana seized
Once the initial information was confirmed and the evidence obtained during the investigation was presented to the judicial authority, the National Police agents received authorization to proceed to enter and search a home in Tejina.
Although he tried to escape by jumping from a window of the house to another adjoining one, his efforts were useless as he was detained by the National Police without achieving his goal.
The agents seized 13 kilograms of marijuana, as well as a large number of plants of the same substance in different stages of growth, coming from the indoor plantation existing inside the property.
The detainee, after testifying at the police station, was placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.
