SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 6 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo of Tenerife, through the Institute of Socio-Health Care (IASS), opens tomorrow, Tuesday, the deadline for the call for in-kind subsidies for social transport vouchers for 2023, aimed at town councils and groups in the third sector.
The Cabildo allocates a total of 220,000 euros (200,000 to city councils for bonuses for people in a situation of social exclusion or risk of suffering from it and 20,000 to third sector entities that develop social intervention projects with migrants).
The Minister of Social Action and head of the IASS, Águeda Fumero, has stated that this type of initiative aims to “promote coordinated work between administrations and between the Cabildo and the third sector to meet the needs of the most vulnerable population, being aware that this collaboration is essential to guarantee a more effective service”.
Águera Fumero explained that the ultimate beneficiaries of both subsidies are vulnerable people, in a situation of social exclusion or at risk of suffering from it, who due to a situation of social need (not sufficiently covered by other services or entities) require support for the transfer, either whether for medical reasons, for studies, for requesting free legal assistance, among other issues”, clarifying that “the users’ situation of need must always be informed by a social worker.
The credit allocated to these subsidies corresponds to a total of 14,666 transport vouchers or cards, which can be used on TITSA, Metropolitano de Tenerife and Transportes La Esperanza lines.
The deadline to submit applications will remain open until December 4, and the maximum deadline for the subsequent distribution of the bonuses among the recipients will be August 31, 2024.
