The lagoon prepares to light its Christmas lightswith a great event that the City Council will celebrate on the 24th of this month, at 8:00 p.m.and which will feature the singer’s music Ana Guerrain a concert at 9:00 p.m..
“We are preparing a great light and sound show for the night of the Christmas lighting switch-on. This year we continue to increase the display of lights in the municipality, so we want to have a great event that serves as a prelude not only to the entire Christmas festivities, but also to the Night On White, which we celebrated a day later. For this we will have a renowned Laguna artist like Ana Guerra, who will offer an extraordinary concert after the lighting,” announced the mayor, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez.
Specifically, the symbolic button to turn on the Christmas lighting will be located at the intersection between Viana and Obispo Rey Redondo streets, in front of the Casa de los Capitanes, and in front of the pointed arch-shaped roof of lights, which has become one of the most recognizable images of Christmas in Tenerife, as highlighted by the Festival Area.
The lighting ceremony will take place at 8:00 p.m. and, later, at 9:00 p.m., the Ana Guerra concert will take place in the Plaza de La Concepción.
“As a reference city for Christmas lighting in the Canary Islands, every year we try to improve ourselves in spectacularity. There are thousands of people who visit us on that day and I am convinced that this year’s event will exceed any expectations,” highlighted the mayor.
2,800 reasons
It has been weeks now, since the end of September, that the City Council, through the Department of Municipal Services and the company Effico Arte y Luz, began with the installation of the Christmas lighting planned for different parts of the municipality. This year, nearly 2,800 Christmas motifs will illuminate the streets of towns and neighborhoods in La Laguna, once again relying on the latest LED technology available, thus contributing to reducing the energy consumption of this decoration and minimizing its environmental impact.
This set of decorative elements will mean zero cost for the La Laguna City Council, since all this material is provided, as part of the improvement of the contract, by the concessionaire company for the public lighting maintenance service.
