SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –
A canoe with 35 migrants on board, all men of sub-Saharan origin, was rescued today Tuesday in the south of the island of Tenerife, according to sources from Maritime Rescue and the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (Cecoes) 1-1- 2.
The rescue began after the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center in Tenerife received a notice from the Civil Guard’s SIVE reporting a suspicious echo about 5 miles southwest of Punta Rasca.
On behalf of Maritime Rescue, the ‘Menkalinan’ rescue boat was immediately mobilized, which located a canoe 8 miles from Los Cristianos, proceeding to rescue the 35 people who were on board, specifically, 32 adults and 3 possible minors.
All those rescued were transferred to the port of Los Cristianos, where they have been treated by health personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) and Red Cross volunteers. All of them were in good general condition and no transfer to a health center was necessary.
