A woman accused of trying to kidnap two children in Tenerife has accepted this Monday a sentence of two years and one day for each of the crimes and the payment of 1,000 euros to the minors, aged 3 and 9, compared to six years. and 6,000 euros initially requested by the Prosecutor’s Office.
In addition, the five months that the woman has spent in preventive detention will be subtracted from the sentence.
The prosecutor said during the session that the sentence was adjusted to the seriousness of the facts and the danger and insecurity that the convicted person caused when she committed the crimes, although he wanted to convey peace of mind to citizens by remembering that the police “acted immediately and that his entry into provisional prison was also ordered.”
Once he is released, he will not be able to approach any of the minors or communicate with them for five years.
In the reduction of the sentence request, it was taken into account, according to the prosecutor, that no damage was caused and that the kidnappings were committed on an attempted basis.
The convicted woman indicated that she was insolvent and could not pay the compensation of 2,000 euros.
In the first case, the defendant took advantage of the parents’ carelessness when a three-year-old child was outside a bar in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and then grabbed him forcefully and ran away with him.
However, she was seen by a waiter who immediately notified the family, whose uncle ran after the woman to free the minor who he continued to hold tightly while insulting and spitting on the family member, until he was finally able to free him and return him to the family. His parents.
At that moment, agents from the Santa Cruz Local Police appeared at the scene, who observed how the woman tried to flee the scene and were able to intercept and arrest her.
The second occasion took place when the woman was preparing to take a bus at the Santa Cruz interchange with her two minor children and met the defendant, who even addressed the mother and directly told her “give me the child,” to He then grabbed the 9-year-old with force and tried to take him away.

She was subsequently arrested and brought to justice and it was decided to send her to the Mental Health Unit of the University Hospital for psychological evaluation.
