Thousands of people gathered this morning at the Las Teresitas beach and its surroundings to enjoy the aerial show of the Eagle Patrol and the Air Force Parachuting Acrobatic Patrol on the occasion of the commemoration of the 110th anniversary of Aviation in the Canary Islands, in an event organized by the Canary Islands Air Command.
The exhibition, which took place completely normally, was attended by the chief general of the Canary Islands Air Command, Francisco Javier Vidal Fernández, and the head of the Canary Islands Command of the Army, Julio Salom Herrera, among other authorities. The first deputy mayor, Carlos Tarife, attended on behalf of the Santa Cruz City Council, along with other members of the municipal Corporation.
Tarife reiterated its gratitude to the Air Force for involving Santa Cruz in the celebration of the 110th anniversary of Aviation in the Canary Islands with an act that “is an example of the great professionalism and good work of our Armed Forces.”
The show, which is the first time it has been held in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, began at twelve noon with the jump of the Acrobatic Parachuting Patrol of the Air Force, whose members displayed a large Canarian flag, along with a Spanish one, at the time of landing on the sand of Las Teresitas beach before the attentive gaze of the thousands of people who gathered to enjoy the show.
After the paratroopers of the Air Force it was the turn of the Eagle Patrol, made up of six planes, which performed acrobatics that managed to arouse admiration and surprise among the public given the risk of many of the figures they drew on the chicharrero sky.
The security device arranged by the Santa Cruz City Council helped to alleviate the traffic delays that occurred in the vicinity of San Andrés due to the expectation aroused by the air show. Line 910 increased its frequencies, up to 14 more trips than a normal day, to respond to the demand of travelers and the call that the City Council had made to come by transport. In addition, the Port Authority kept the port service road open to traffic with the aim of facilitating the flow of traffic in the direction of San Andrés.
The show ended after one in the afternoon with the Águila Patrol making a final pass over the beach, drawing the Spanish flag with the wake of their planes.
