The Department of Public Services, Works, Ecological Transition and Beaches of Granadilla de Abona has begun the processing of the first phase of the Master Plan for the Improvement of Municipal Sports Infrastructures. This initiative includes, among other works, the drafting of repair and improvement projects for sports centers in Los Hinojeros, Chiñama, La Hoyita, Pablo Iglesias Posse and El Médano. He will also intervene in the fields of soccer of El Médano and Charco del Pino, as well as in the San Isidro area. The list of actions includes the development of the new San Isidro sports center.
Marcos Antonio Rodríguez, councilor of the area, argues that the municipality of Granadilla de Abona has experienced exponential growth in the last two decades, so the sports equipment it is provided with is insufficient “to provide real coverage to the needs and demands that raises citizenship in this matter.
There is the added circumstance that the municipal park of sports venues «presents substantial deterioration and deficiencies”, which is why “the need for important comprehensive improvements is confirmed.”». Rodríguez Santana emphasizes that this Master Plan for the Improvement of Municipal Sports Infrastructures “is a priority” for this municipal government and for the area it directs. With the launch of this first phase, the aim is to draft the projects corresponding to the infrastructures subject to the repair and commissioning works. Having these documents will make it possible “for the renovations to be carried out over the next four years.”
Regarding the second phase of the aforementioned Master Plan, Marcos Antonio Rodríguez explains that it will include the rest of the municipal-owned facilities that require improvement works. The mayor of Public Services, Works, Ecological Transition announces that at this stage, improvements in low-voltage energy efficiency are also contemplated, the change to LED-type projectors, the installation of photovoltaic roof systems and those actions aimed at ensuring that the centers sports are self-sustainable, in order to reduce the carbon footprint in Granadilla de Abona.
In this sense, the councilor and second deputy mayor of the Granadilla de Abona City Council maintains that the final purpose of the local government with this master plan is to “dignify, provide adequate security and adapt these spaces to the demand for sports practice of the Granadilla men and women, so that they can make correct use and enjoy them with all the guarantees.
