The Cabildo reveals what it will do with the closure of the TF-5 in Guamasa in the coming days

He Tenerife Council has decided to extend the closure of the TF-5 near Guamasa until next Wednesday in order to collect more traffic data and thus make a final decision.

This extension has already been notified to the residents themselves, the La Laguna City Council and the Provincial Traffic Directorate, which will provide the same traffic control service on secondary roads, the corporation reports in a note.

The Minister of Highways, Dámaso Arteaga, held a meeting this Friday with members of the Guamasa neighborhood association in which he took note of the opinion of the neighbors, who have not agreed with the measure although they are aware of the mobility problems that the area suffers on a daily basis.

In this regard, the counselor described the meeting as positive because they jointly analyzed possible improvement measures and conveyed to the neighbors that the intention and objective of the Cabildo “is not to harm anyone but to work to solve the mobility problems in the environment that supports a enormous traffic load at rush hours.”

Not in vain, between 06:00 and 09:00, at the Guamasa junction, about 600 vehicles per hour join the TF-5, that is, about 1,800 vehicles in the three hours.

The measure consists of the provisional cut of about two kilometers, redirecting traffic through the TF-235 island road to exit 12 of the TF-5, El Portezuelo junction, from where vehicles can join the TF-motorway. 5.

The Cabildo reminds us that this is a measure that is adopted from responsibility, with the utmost caution, and with it the aim is to improve traffic management and greater fluidity, as well as reduce the accident rate in the area.
