The City Council of San Cristóbal de La Laguna has reported this Tuesday that it will proceed to close the recreational area of the Mota Table, due to the reforestation tasks that will be carried out in the coming days. In a publication on its social media profiles, the City Council confirms that the closure will take place this weekuntil the aforementioned works are completed.
The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, stressed that “with the passing of the years, more and more citizens want to enjoy these enclaves of nature to go hiking or simply share a moment of leisure in the recreational areas. available, so it is our obligation to keep these spaces in the best possible conditions.”
For his part, the Councilor for the Environment of La Laguna, Ángel Chinea, added that “the project designed by the Consistory includes actions in different points of the Mesa Mota where species will be repopulated, invasive exotic species will be eliminated and the land will be prepared for facilitate access for the local population and visitors.”
Chinea specifically states that, during the development of the work, and in view of the uncivil acts that have been recorded on other occasions on public furniture, it has been decided to restrict access to the recreational area until the work is completed, which will be duly communicated through from official channels.
Finally, the mayor recalled the importance of taking this type of safety measures during the development of these reforestation tasks, since they can involve movements and landslides in areas where any user usually passes.
