The first shuttle buses from the North to the Guajara campus, in the University of La Laguna (ULL), recorded on the first day an approximate occupancy of half of its 110 seats (55 per bus) both in the outbound transfer first thing in the morning and in the return transfer, around three in the afternoon. Sources from Titsa and the Cabildo showed their “satisfaction” with the initial result of the test, taking into account factors such as “the lack of information” or that the current one is “a long weekend”taking into account that tomorrow is a holiday on the occasion of All Saints’ Day.
Line 606 left Icod de los vinos and 608 left from Los Realejos, to connect with the Guajara Campus at the Faculty of Economics and the General Lecture Hall, in whose outdoor area they parked to leave the ticket and pick it up for the return. The sources acknowledge that “they were not very full, but they were half full, despite being difficult days.”
In this sense, they explain that “we are in the middle of a long weekend and many university students are not going to class.” Therefore, they emphasize, “we will have to wait until the holiday is over to do an analysis.” It should be remembered that both Shuttle buses have a capacity of 55 passengers eachto.
This is one of the measures undertaken by the insular Corporation to promote sustainable mobility and decongest the usual traffic jams on the Northern Highway (TF-5). Titsa launched these two new shuttle lines yesterday; that is, direct round trip with the aim of improving mobility, especially in the university community of the North.
The president of the Cabildo of TenerifeRosa Dávila, highlighted the importance of putting them into operation with the complement of reinforcing the lines, both in the North and South. She explains that “they fit inside the package of 20 measures to improve and achieve sustainable mobility which we have already announced, for which it is necessary to encourage the use of public transport.
In this way, the company creates the Lanzadera line ULL 606, which connects the Icod de los Vinos Station with the Guajara Campus Lecture Hall, with stops in Buen Paso, La Uvi, Santa Catalina, El Cubo, Enlace de Los Realejos, Link to La Orotava, Coromoto, Faculty of Economics and Classroom. This route leaves Icod Station at 06:30 and returns from the university campus at 2:45 p.m.
In addition, Titsa launches the ULL 608 Shuttle, from Los Realejos to the Aulario de Guajara, with stops on Avenida de Canary Islands, Los Barros, Los Realejos Link, Orotava Link, Coromoto, Faculty of Economics and Classroom. The departure from the Mencey Bencomo square in Los Realejos will be at 06:50 and the return from Guajara at 2:45 p.m.
Both shuttles share a stop at the Los Realejos Junction, which increases the mobility options for users in the northern part of the Island.
