He Santiago del Teide City Council proceeded to partially reopen Los Guíos beach -located in the tourist center of The Giants-, which was closed to the public due to the improvement and conditioning works of Las Adelfas streetin order to safeguard the safety of neighbors and visitors.
The reopening of this space took place last Friday, according to a statement made public by the corporation about the evolution of the works and the situation of the beach.
It is worth mentioning that said reopening, which arises after the favorable report of the project management of the works that are being carried out, will be carried out from nine in the morning to five in the afternoon, highlighting that, as the work evolves , new partial openings of the aforementioned beach will be carried out.
With respect to the action that is being carried out, it contemplates, among other aspects, the execution of a viewpoint that will be located approximately 2 meters above the slope that makes up the cliff of Los Guíos beach, also allowing an expansion in overhang of the sidewalk that will create a rest space and a viewpoint that will allow a panoramic view of the majestic cliffs.
Mayor Emilio Navarro and Tourism Councilor Luz Goretti Gorrín were present in the area.
The announcement of the beach closure occurred last August, while the works have been underway since September 4. At that time, the Santiago del Teide City Council assured that partial openings of the beach would be carried out progressively and during the course of the work.
The mayor, Emilio Navarro, assured when the closure of the aforementioned coastal area occurred that “although it is true that the slope that makes up the cliff of Los Guíos beach is braced by protective meshes, from the council our main task is always safeguard to the maximum the safety of our neighbors and those who visit us, hence the decision has been made by the council to close the beach due to the previous history of landslides from the slope, for which I ask for the collaboration of the population so that “We will soon be able to enjoy the new viewpoint and the incredible views that await us with its execution.”
