SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 28 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The ANPE Canarias union held its provincial union councils yesterday, Friday and today, Saturday, in which the situation of public education in the Archipelago and the work of the union during the last year were analyzed and the fundamental lines of action were agreed upon to face the pending challenges. of the sector.

Both in the previous surveys launched by ANPE among its union delegates to prepare the councils and in their development, emphasis was placed on the importance of lowering the student-teacher ratios throughout the educational system as a priority measure to improve attention to diversity and quality of teaching.

Likewise, the need to reduce the excessive bureaucratic burden imposed on teachers, identified as an obstacle to the proper development of their teaching work with students, was insisted on, as well as to improve the infrastructure and equipment of educational centers.

Other demands highlighted by the union’s affiliation were compliance with the various pending remuneration commitments by the Administration, the expansion of the possibility of holding telematic meetings to those of educational teams and other teaching activities, the enabling of an effective mechanism of psychological and legal assistance to teachers who are victims of attacks and the appreciation of the teaching function before families and society in general.

The councils, held yesterday Friday in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and today Saturday in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, had the presence and interventions of the counselor and vice-minister of Education of the autonomous Government, Poli Suárez and José Manuel Cabrera, and a representation of the Canary Islands School Council.

Also participating in the meetings were the national vice president of ANPE, Sonia García; the regional president of ANPE Canarias, Pedro Crespo; and representatives of the medical union CESM and the nursing union SATSE, which together with ANPE make up the Federation of Education and Health Unions.

The union council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife also hosted a conference titled ‘The educational revolution of Artificial Intelligence: are you ready?’, given by the management communication advisor Miguel Ángel Guisado, in addition to the musical performance by Liana Llauger, Renaissance lute concert player.

The opening and closing of the councils was carried out by the provincial presidents of ANPE Canarias, María Perera (Las Palmas) and Víctor González (Santa Cruz de Tenerife), who thanked the union’s commitment to membership not only with the organization itself , but with the profession as a whole and with public education in the Islands in general.

MAJORITY UNION

The provincial union councils are the highest governing bodies of ANPE in each province. In the last union elections in the sector, held less than a year ago, ANPE Canarias obtained 5,210 votes, which allowed it to once again revalidate its status as the most representative union of the non-university public education teaching community of the Islands, increasing, also, the difference with respect to the next most voted.

The president of ANPE Canarias, Pedro Crespo, highlighted that since ANPE is the majority union “objectives have been achieved such as the recognition and payment of the remuneration supplement for permanent training – the so-called sexenios -, the reduction of teaching teaching hours to 23 hours in preschool and primary school and 18 hours in secondary school, the approval of one of the best temporary roster systems in Spain, or the reduction of ratios at various levels”.

Furthermore, he was convinced that the different model of unionism that ANPE represents “is successful because it seeks at all times to be useful to teachers, both in the defense of their rights and working conditions and in providing support in day-to-day procedures. And all from independence and professionalism.”
