Maritime Rescue and the Civil Guard have rescued two canoes with 324 migrants in waters near the island of El Hierro during the night of this Thursday, in addition to another 225 who arrived on the island of Tenerife.
In this way, the number of people arriving in the Canary Islands at the end of this Thursday amounts to 549, according to data collected from Maritime Rescue, the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center of 112 of the Canary Islands and the Red Cross.
The rescues of the two boats with 324 people occurred after two echoes of the Integrated External Surveillance System (SIVE) were detected, taking the Adhara sea rescuer and the Civil Guard patrol boat to the area to accompany the canoes to the dock. from La Restinga.
Specifically, the salvamar accompanied the canoe that was carrying 243 people, including ten minors, and the Civil Guard accompanied the one that had 81 people on board, 19 of them minors, all in good health.
Once at the La Restinga dock, in the municipality of El Pinar, the health team assisted some of the migrants from the cayuco that was carrying 243 people, since some had hypothermia and dehydration.
Likewise, 225 migrants arrived at the Los Cristianos dock, in Arona (Tenerife), of which 48 were minors. The health device in the area had to transfer an adult male and a minor to the hospital.
