The number of cruise passengers in the Canary Islands increases by 87% compared to 2022

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE/MADRID, Oct. 26 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The number of cruise passengers that transited through the Canarian ports between January and September exceeded the figures registered in the same period of 2022 by 86.9%, with 1.5 million travelers, according to data from Puertos del Estado, which The number of cruise ships that called in the Canary Islands in this period is 706, 7.7% less than in 2022.

In September, a total of 69,565 cruise passengers were registered in the Canary Islands ports, which is 55.1% above the volume recorded in the same month of the previous year.

Between January and September, total passenger traffic in the islands’ ports, including regular lines and cruise ships, stood at 7.1 million users (5.5 million regular lines and another 1.5 million cruises). This figure is 17.5% higher than that of 2022.

In monthly figures for September, total passenger traffic (regular and cruise passengers) was 704,372, 9.6% more than in the same month of the previous year. Of them, 634,807 traveled on regular transportation lines and another 69,565 were cruise passengers.

According to the port traffic summary of Puertos del Estado, a total of 431 cruise ships arrived in Spanish ports last September (3,106 so far this year). In the accumulated data, the majority of them landed in Barcelona (589), the Balearic Islands (571), Las Palmas (389) and Santa Cruz de Tenerife (317).

Of the 8.4 million passengers who arrived at Spanish ports in the first nine months of the year, the majority did so in Barcelona (2,524,856). It is followed by the ports of the Balearic Islands (1,971,572), Las Palmas (912,794) and Santa Cruz de Tenerife (662,260).
