The Santa Cruz City Council, through the Environmental Sustainability and Public Services area, headed by Carlos Tarife, will install 83 new electric vehicle charging stations (PVRE) in the five districts, of which 14 will be semi-fast charging, with a power of 22 kW. The majority (79) will be installed through three projects, and the remaining four through the electrical maintenance contract for public spaces, with the expectation that they will be installed by the end of 2023 or the first quarter of 2024.

The mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, points out that “the City Council is aware of caring for the environment and that is why we continue working to offer more charging stations for users of these vehicles that pollute less when driving and, therefore, , they favor the improvement of the quality of the air we breathe.”

For his part, the Councilor for Sustainability and Public Services, Carlos Tarife, assures that “the installation of these charging stations also responds to a request from these users, who are becoming more numerous every day”, something that is evidenced, indicates the mayor, that “the residents of Santa Cruz see this type of vehicles as the best option to reduce environmental pollution and take care of the environment.”

Of the total positions, 27 will have two exits, which will allow two cars to connect simultaneously. In addition, they will have a management and control system for the power demanded, and the corresponding spaces will be marked and painted.

Regarding the location of these 27 positions, they are distributed as follows: two in the Anaga district (in the municipal office of San Andrés and at the Local Police headquarters in Las Mesas park); six in Centro-Ifara (one in the FIDES building, one in the Siliuto House, two in the Sports Pavilion, one in the municipal building on Nifú Nifa street, and one in the School of Commerce); eight in Salud-La Salle (one at the GRAMU headquarters, one at the Municipal Nursery, and six at the Local Police offices); and eleven in Ofra-Costa Sur (10 in the Ofra administrative building; and one in the Tena Artigas building).

In addition, the Public Services Technical Service, under the contract for the maintenance of electrical installations, plans to install or put into operation charging stations on Salamanca Street, in the Doctor Pablos de Abril square, on Antonio Lecuona Hardisson Street, in the Polígono Costa Sur, on Jose Fonspertius Street, in the vicinity of the old La Salud market.
