He recalled that the process began in 2018 with a request from the then Minister of Industry, Pedro Ortega, to the European Commission, and during the last Legislature, up to 14 initiatives were presented in Parliament to lower the fuel tax but “never “The ‘Flower Pact’ wanted to carry out the bonus.
For the current Minister of Justice, this measure is one of “social justice” for the citizens of the ‘green islands’.
From AHI they have highlighted that this is one of the most important measures of the Legislature because “it will impact the lives of the people of El Hierro on a daily basis” and they have expressed satisfaction that the Government of the Canary Islands is complying with the governance pact.
The measure will be effective through a linear discount of 20 cents per liter at the time of gasoline consumption, using a formula similar to that used by the Government of Spain during the COVID-19 crisis.
In addition, the average price that each island pays for
above the rest of the Canary Islands, so in the first six months the price difference on the three islands will be calculated to evaluate whether the amount of 20 cents increases or not.
