VALVERDE (EL HIERRO), Oct. 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –
A cayuco with 81 migrants arrived on its own at around 8:25 a.m. this Sunday at the La Restinga Dock (El Hierro), as Maritime Rescue sources have informed Europa Press.
Once on land, the Red Cross and the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) explained that they assisted the occupants of the irregular vessel, all of whom were apparently in good health.
This is the second boat to arrive at the island after another canoe arrived last night with 93 people, also all in good condition.
Furthermore, during the day yesterday, Saturday, more than 1,000 migrants arrived to the Canary Islands aboard different boats and canoes, of which 813 did so to El Hierro, highlighting one canoe with 320 people, the largest since the opening of the ‘canarian route’ in 1994.
