SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Relatives of users of the CAMP San José de Las Longueras, in Telde (Gran Canaria) have met with the Deputy of the Common, Rafael Yanes, and the advisor of the Disability area, Yésica González, to denounce the situation they suffer in the center
CAMP stopped supplying bottled water to users to give them tap water and the mother of one of the users, Nereida Hernández, explains that “with all the incidents that have happened since 2011 until now, this has been the last straw.” broke the camel’s back.”
“It is no longer just the issue of water, it is that my daughter comes home with bruises and bumps,” he says in a note sent by the institution.
The relatives told Yanes that they want the situation that is being experienced in the center to “end”, that they “take care” of the users and to guarantee that it is adapted to their conditions. Furthermore, they insisted that “this does not end here.”
The Common Deputy, for his part, added that “when a “sensitive” public service, such as a disability center managed by a private company, the institution asks about the inspection system because “it is the only public tool to guarantee an adequate provision of service, in this case to guarantee the rights of users”.
Yanes pointed out that given the “seriousness” of the non-compliance reported by family members, they make a prior assessment and ask the administrations.
From there he pointed out that there are four possibilities, “that there is no violation and it is filed, that this does not seem to be the case, that, even if there is no violation, suggestions are made to the administration – in this case to the Cabildo of Gran Canaria – ; that there is a violation of rights and in this case a recommendation is sent that must be complied with or its non-compliance justified or even sent to the Prosecutor’s Office.”
For this reason, the Common Deputy promised to request the specifications to know if it is met, to know if the staff has training and if it is the same as on holidays and weekends and the number of inspections carried out at the center. .
