A bather drowns on Tenerife’s San Marcos beach

A bather has died by drowning and another has been assisted after finding himself in trouble with two others in the town of Playa de San Marcos, in the north of Tenerife, according to the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (Cecoes) 112.

It was a call that alerted that four people were in trouble in the water, so the GES helicopter was taken to the scene, whose rescuers accessed two of the bathers, since the other two were already out of the water. They proceeded to their rescue and hoisted them onto the aircraft.

After verifying that one of them was in cardiorespiratory arrest, they began to practice resuscitation maneuvers during their transfer to the La Guancha helisurface.

Waiting on the ground were the staff of the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), who confirmed that one of those affected remained in cardiorespiratory arrest and continued practicing advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers without obtaining results, confirming his death.

For his part, the second victim was assisted on the helisurface.

Meanwhile, the Local Police transported one of the people who was able to get out of the water to the emergency service of the Hospital del Norte for evaluation, while Firefighters intervened in the rescue device deployed in the area and the Civil Guard carried out the timely reports.
