The Oscar-winning actor Richard Dreyfuss has canceled his participation in the Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival City of La Laguna Calavera Islandwhere he was going to receive the honorary award next November in recognition of his career.
The actor was also expected to participate in a screening of one of his most successful films, “Jaws,” although the festival has regretted that “for reasons unrelated to the organization of the competitions he will not attend as he had initially agreed.”
“We respect Mr. Dreyfuss’ decision and his need to address personal matters at this time. This visit was the result of hard work that had been carried out for months with the intention of connecting our audience with one of the most admired figures in the international film industry,” the festival notes.
The festival organization has added that Dreyfuss’s absence “is a fact that we sincerely feel and we understand the impact this can have on our viewers.”
“With this unexpected news, we are forced to modify the scheduled activities and readjust our content schedule. The Fancine and Calavera Island teams remain committed to the quality and excellence of our events, which is why we continue working to offer an enriching and attractive cinematographic experience,” they concluded.
