SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 18 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of Vox, Santiago Abascal, visits the island of El Hierro this Thursday to analyze the arrival of migrants to the island and gather testimonies among the protagonists, in such a way that he will visit different enclaves, sources from the group report.
Later, around 4:30 p.m., he will hold a meeting with the media at the Tenerife North airport before taking the flight back to Madrid.
Only in the first two weeks of October the island has received the arrival of almost 3,000 irregular migrants and although referrals to Tenerife are made regularly, there is not enough capacity to do them on a daily basis.
The island has two facilities to temporarily house migrants, the old Frontera monastery, with capacity for 300 people, and the San Andrés sports center, with 380 places, and also, given the delay of the Canary Islands Government in referring the minors, the island has another 243 in foster care.
