SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 18 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo of Tenerife has opened the deadline for submitting works from the ‘Merkarte’ program, an initiative aimed at young people aged 18 to 35 that aims to disseminate their works and encourage their access to the professional art market.
The rules can be consulted on the website tenerifejovenyeduca.com and the deadline for submitting works and being selected ends on November 10.
The Minister of Youth and Training, Serafín Mesa, points out in a note that the objective of ‘Merkarte’ “is to promote and disseminate the work done by young artists and facilitate their incorporation into the art market, it is a promotional space in those that favor the sale of original work”.
Mesa also points out that the initiative will celebrate its twentieth anniversary in 2024, so work is already underway “to give new impetus to the program that has had significant success in these two decades.”
Artists whose ages range between 18 and 35 (turned in 2023) and who reside on the island of Tenerife can participate in ‘Merkarte’.
The modalities that have been called in this edition are painting, sculpture and graphic work (photography, engraving, drawing).
The program also offers a program of training, exhibition and socio-labor accompaniment activities, in its commitment to youth and local talent in collaboration with the tourism industry and other private actors.
