SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 17 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The delegate of the Government in the Canary Islands, Anselmo Pestana, and the insular director of the General Administration of the State in La Palma, Ana de León, met today Tuesday in Santa Cruz de La Palma with the mayors of El Paso, Eloy Martín, and of Los Llanos de Aridane, Javier Llamas, to increase coordination between the state and municipal Administration in matters of security.
In this meeting, held at the headquarters of the Insular Directorate of the General State Administration in La Palma, the Councilor for Security of the El Paso City Council, Jonay Pérez, and, on behalf of the Civil Guard, Brigadier General Juan Hernández Mosquera and the colonel chief of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Command, Ángel Sanz.
The Government delegate in the Canary Islands has informed the municipal representatives that the Government of Spain is committed to maintaining security in all areas of the island of La Palma, covering over one hundred percent the catalog of Civil Guard troops. .
The mayors of Los Llanos de Aridane and El Paso appreciate the cooperation with the Government Delegation and the Island Directorate. “This meeting was very important for us. We have to reinforce the feeling of security in our municipalities. The Civil Guard is a fundamental ally,” said Javier Llamas. “While we reinforce our local security devices, the support of the State becomes essential to guarantee that tranquility and friendliness that characterizes our land,” added Eloy Martín.
Anselmo Pestana has also explained that the presence of the Security Forces and Bodies in La Palma, and particularly their effectiveness, has allowed the number of detainees and investigated to increase this year compared to last year, on an island whose Crime is already below the state average.
“Not only do we comply with the presence of Civil Guard troops in La Palma, but in Los Llanos de Aridane and El Paso there are more troops, given that the State opted to reinforce security in the two municipalities after the volcanic emergency,” stated the Government delegate.
At the meeting it was agreed to establish a technical follow-up meeting between the Government Delegation, through the Island Directorate, State Security Forces and Bodies, City Councils and Local Police to implement coordinated actions that allow reinforcing the feeling of security of the citizenship.
“Both the island director and I are completely committed to the task of continuing to work through coordination and collaboration with the rest of the administrations of the island to improve the daily lives of the residents of La Palma, from all perspectives, as well in the field of security,” commented Anselmo Pestana.
