The works against Tenerife forest fire They focused during the night of this Tuesday in the area of Ravelo, municipality of El Sauzal, without any “important” developments being recorded, as indicated early in the morning by the Canary Islands Government.
The team fighting the fire has gone from 90 troops this Monday to 34 people last night, including BRIFOR troops from the Tenerife Cabildo, Military Emergency Unit and Firefighters from the Tenerife Consortium.
An INFOCA technical coordination meeting will be held early this Tuesday in which the evolution of the fire during the night and the measures to be taken during the day will be analyzed. This emergency continues at level 2, so it is the Canarian Government that manages it.
This fire began in the Arafo mountains on August 15 and was considered controlled on September 11, when it had already reached 14,000 hectares affected in 12 municipalities. However, the heat wave that has affected the islands since the beginning of October, together with the lack of humidity, has led to dozens of reactivations in hot spots inside and outside the initial perimeter of the fire. The change in weather conditions expected this week is expected to help quell the flames and prevent further flare-ups.
