La Frontera will host the Agrocanarias Fair in November

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 13 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The municipality of La Frontera will host from November 3 to 5 the seventh edition of the Agrocanarias Fair, a meeting organized by the Government of the Canary Islands through the public company GMR Canarias, with the collaboration of the Canary Institute of Agri-Food Quality (ICCA) and the La Frontera City Council, to promote the products of the primary sector of the Islands and encourage their consumption through a wide gastronomic and recreational offer.

The appointment was presented today, Friday, at a press conference by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty, Narvay Quintero, the president of the Cabildo of El Hierro, Alpidio Armas, and the mayor of the local corporation, Pablo Rodríguez Cejas.

During his speech, the member of the Canary Islands Executive indicated that the main objective of this meeting is to position and promote companies in the primary sector of the Archipelago, “generating new business opportunities, offering them the opportunity to present, market and promote their productions in a “Three-day festive event aimed at all audiences and designed to enjoy Canarian products, the main protagonists.”

Narvay Quintero explained that the event, whose admission will be free, will have 11 exhibitors in the commercial area and seven in the gastronomic area, while 28 suppliers will participate in the market (of salts, wines, craft beers, gofios, cheeses, sweets, etc). “In addition, it will have different spaces and an extensive program of activities, in the morning and afternoon, including tastings and tastings, a market of Canarian products, live music, and an area in which children’s workshops taught by specialized monitors, in addition to many other proposals,” he added.

For his part, the president of the Cabildo pointed out that “this event is a matter of first order to highlight kilometer zero products, as well as position the island as a different, singular and unique tourist destination.”

“El Hierro is agriculture, livestock and fishing and can compete for the quality of its productions; therefore, through this initiative, we will put gastronomy at the forefront, which will benefit professionals in the primary sector and the economy island,” he noted.

The mayor of La Frontera stated that “it is an honor to be able to host this fair that is committed to promoting local products and promoting local consumption; with all that this means for the primary sector, for the associated economy and for sustainability.”

“For this reason, I would like to extend an invitation to all the neighbors, and people who visit us on the weekend of the event, to take a walk through the Plaza Benito Padrón Gutiérrez so that they can learn about the products of our land and enjoy of all the proposals included in this program,” he added.

Regarding the distribution of the space, Agrocanarias will have an exhibition area made up of stands in which business exhibitors can present and sell their local agricultural and fishing productions, and another gastronomic area, in which stands will be located that will offer meals. and drinks made in the Canary Islands, with a space equipped with tables and chairs and a stage where musical performances of different styles will take place.

In the market, attendees will be able to purchase the products that have won awards in the Official Agrocanarias Competitions and those marketed by other producers, and in the children’s area the little ones will enjoy a wide variety of workshops adapted to all ages.

In addition, the ICCA will have a space where tastings will be carried out, led by specialized technical personnel, aimed at publicizing and highlighting the singularities of the Archipelago’s productions, including honey, gofios, oils, vinegars, fruits, wines from the different islands, Gomera sap, cheeses, etc. These are focused on both adult and child audiences.

In order to encourage public attendance and exhibitor participation, access to the event will be free and registration fees for companies are reduced. Likewise, local personnel and companies have been used for the assembly and contracting of the different services necessary for the development of this meeting.
