The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, has requested the president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, for an urgent meeting to address the changes announced by the island institution regarding circulation in the TF-5 as it passes through the municipality, and especially the access detour through Guamasa.
Luis Yeray Gutiérrez has conveyed to the president “the need for all measures that affect our municipality to be agreed upon with the City Council, because there are many residents who may be affected. We ask to have first-hand all the information regarding the initiatives that the Council wants to launch, and that is why I have requested this working meeting as soon as possible.”
Likewise, the councilor proposes addressing other points that affect mobility in La Laguna, such as the status of the works on the Padre Anchieta walkway.
The City Council has requested that, in addition to the mayor and the president, the Councilor for Mobility, Eulalia García, take part in the meeting; the Minister of Highways, Dámaso Arteaga; the Councilor for Mobility and Citizen Security of La Laguna, Cristina Ledesma, and the technical teams of both areas.
Finally, the mayor insists that “an intervention of the magnitude of the closure of the Guamasa access to the highway cannot be proposed without counting on the City Council. We know of the Council’s desire to alleviate the traffic problems on the TF-5, but we insist that all measures, whether provisional or permanent, must be carried out in coordination with the affected municipalities, as is the case of The lagoon”.
