The Cabildo of Tenerife approved the Insular Historical Heritage Program in the session of the Government Council held yesterday. This document will be valid until 2027 and includes subsidies to non-profit individuals and legal entities for the maintenance, restoration and/or conservation of properties of cultural value; subsidies to town councils for the restoration of assets of cultural value, the preparation and approval of special plans for the protection of historical sites, as well as municipal catalogs of cultural heritage assets; subsidies to the Bishopric for the restoration of assets, and actions on infrastructure of cultural value owned by the Cabildo.
In the press conference after the Government Council, the president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, indicated that, with the approval of this new program, “not only the restoration of heritage assets can be achieved, but also help with other sectors, for example, tourism, employment, promoting hiring, the economy and sustainability, conserving those heritage elements that define and give environmental value to urban and rural landscapes.”
The contribution that the Cabildo will make for the actions related to property owned by the municipalities will amount to a maximum of 1,200,000 euros for each of them, distributed over up to three years, with a maximum amount in each one, for each intervention, of 400,000 euros. For the moment, the appropriation of an amount of 6 million distributed between 2023 and 2024 has been approved.
On the other hand, the Government Council has also given the green light to the second Island Plan for Childhood and Adolescence 2023-2027, which brings together all the actions that, from the Island Corporation and its entire public sector, are carried out in matters of childhood. and adolescence in this period.
This document reflects the Cabildo’s commitment to the promotion, defense and guarantee of the rights of children and adolescents, as well as to covering their needs to achieve comprehensive development. Likewise, this Plan is the previous step to renew the UNICEF Child Friendly City seal.
In the area of Social Action, the Government Council also approved to extend the contract for the specialized care and intervention service for victims of gender violence, housed in accommodation resources, for a total, multi-year amount of 194,117.59 euros.
Santa Cruz
Likewise, the vice president of the Cabildo, Lope Afonso, reported the award of the drafting of the project to adapt the surroundings of Las Gaviotas Beach and its connection with Playa Chica, in Santa Cruz, for an amount of 100,000 euros. “This initiative is part of the Tenerife and the Sea project, which aims to adapt access and sustainability of the island’s coastal environments,” Afonso explained. The Government Council also approved agreements within the Tenerife Sports Infrastructure Plan 2022-2026 with El Tanque, Buenavista del Norte and Arafo.
