SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 11 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The organizations and administrations with powers in matters of immigration in the Canary Islands have participated this Wednesday in a new meeting called by the Coordination Authority against immigration in the Canary Islands, which has been chaired by videoconference by the head of the Border Command and Maritime Police of the Guard Civilian, Lieutenant General Juan Luis Pérez, together with the Government delegate in the Canary Islands, Anselmo Pestana, in which it has been stated that there are no adult migrants left in El Hierro.
The Government of the Canary Islands, represented by the general director of Security, David del Pino, and by the director of CECOES 112, Moisés Sánchez, have agreed to highlight the good coordination that has made it possible to respond to the arrivals of boats to El Hierro that have produced in recent weeks.
In fact, the collaboration has also made it possible for the adults who arrived in El Hierro to be referred to other islands of the archipelago, where the identification of the migrants has been carried out and all the necessary assistance has been carried out.
Thus, Lieutenant General Juan Luis Pérez has confirmed that there are currently no adult immigrants in El Hierro, according to a note from the Government Delegation.
The subdelegates of the Government in Las Palmas, Teresa Mayans, and in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Javier Plata, also participated in the meeting, as well as commanders and representatives of the Civil Guard, National Police, Navy, Army, Air Force and the Space, SASEMAR, Migration Emergencies Unit, Customs Surveillance and Spanish Red Cross.
The Coordination Authority, created in 2006, is responsible for analyzing the immigration situation in the archipelago.
The meeting held this Wednesday is the first since the biweekly periodicity of these meetings was established on September 27 to speed up the response of all institutions to the migration phenomenon.
