The Group of World Heritage Cities of Spain, chaired by La Laguna, has carried out a promotional action for its tourist, heritage, cultural and gastronomic offer in the professional conferences to support marketing in the Indian market, organized by Turespaña under the title ‘The Spanish Travel Experience. India 2023’, and which have been developed in Dehli, Bangalore and Mumbai.
The president of the Group of World Heritage Cities and mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, assured that the presence of the Group of Heritage Cities in these days is part of the powerful international promotion campaign of the Group throughout the Asian market, in collaboration with Turespaña.
“We know that interest in our country is growing, which in 2019 received more than 220,000 travelers, with an increasing trend that confirms that Spain is one of the preferred destinations for tourists from India. These are tourists looking for warm destinations and who are attracted to our way of life, our cities, our culture and our heritage, in addition to nature and gastronomy,” he added.
The president has highlighted that India is “a strategic issuing market and it is also about tourists who return time after time, to discover all the variety that our country offers.” “Without a doubt, the best symbol of Spain’s cultural wealth is the Group of World Heritage Cities, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year,” he added.
Within the framework of the 2023 operational plan, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez has stressed that they are “in a key year in the tourism promotion of Heritage Cities.” “We have also planned technical and institutional presentations in Chicago and Toronto. In the case of Central Europe, we will be in Milan, Brussels and Amsterdam; after carrying out specific actions in Bordeaux and Porto. We will also reach the Nordic countries, specifically Stockholm and Copenhagen,” he added.
Participation in these sessions is part of the Tourism Action Plan and the annual collaboration agreement with Turespaña. The Group has had a specific space for meetings with professionals, attended by the Group’s Tourism technician, Patricia Hernández.
The objective of the conference is to support the knowledge and marketing of destinations, their products and Spanish tourist services. Spanish companies, destinations and tourism entities participated in them and, in each city, agents and tour operators from the Indian market, previously selected by the Spanish Tourism Office in Mumbai, which guarantees the quality of the contacts, and with a planned call of about 150 professionals from the Indian tourism sector in each of them.
Currently, the Indian market is in a moment of rapid recovery, which is reflected in both group travel and the business sector. Regarding the latter, a study by American Express reveals that 77% of companies have increased their budget for business travel in 2023.
Currently, quality, more careful tourism products and novel or unconventional experiences are valued even more, related to art and culture, gastronomy (a resource that is increasingly in demand), urban, nature and shopping tourism. , among others.
