The Government Council has agreed today, Monday, to request an opinion from the Canary Islands Advisory Council on the Draft Decree approving the regulations for the general selection and promotion criteria of the General Corps of the Canary Islands Police (CGPC).
This decree includes the particularities that must be considered for the coverage of places in access to the Corps, for the sake of greater legal certainty, and also incorporates the social equality and gender non-discrimination provisions of Law 2/2021.
To date, the access and promotion systems of the CGPC have been carried out by adapting the bases of the appropriate calls to the personnel regulations of the Public Administration of the Autonomous Community, and adjusting them to the legal criteria established by Law 2/2008. of May 28 of the General Corps of the Canarian Police.
However, police activity requires specific training, attitudes and skills that must be included in the selective tests, without prejudice to the application of the general regime on a supplementary basis.
The file was submitted to the mandatory consultation period, hearing process and public information, union organizations and all departments of the Government of the Canary Islands, collecting the observations raised.
