The troops working to extinguish the Tenerife forest fire will monitor the possible reactivations that may occur in Santa Úrsula, El Sauzal and La Orotava and in the liquidation of the hot spots that are within the perimeter, in a new day marked by the heat and the wind.
The extinction operation for today will have 90 ground troops and 8 helicopters, reports the Island Council.
Today’s work will be made difficult by the heat, with temperatures around 34 degrees, and wind, with gusts exceeding 30 kilometers per hour.
The Cabildo asks the residents of the areas in which the extinguishing means are working to, as far as possible, avoid unnecessary travel so that the roads are available so that the extinguishing and emergency vehicles can act safely.
It also keeps grade 1 measures activated for the prevention of forest fires, such as the prohibition of making fires outdoors, whether barbecues, bonfires, stoves or gas stoves; the suspension of the use of any type of machinery or tool that can project sparks (brush cutters, welding equipment or cutting radials) as well as the prohibition of any pyrotechnic material in risk areas.
It also reports that at around six o’clock this morning there was an attempt in Roque Negro, in the Anaga Rural Park, which was quickly put down by members of the Tenerife Firefighters Consortium.
