SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 8 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The night of the Tenerife fire passed without any news or reactivations on the perimeter, although the work will continue during the day this Sunday.
This was reported by the Cabildo during the update of the state of fire at 09:30 a.m., which added that around 06:00 a.m. there was an outbreak in Roque Negro, in the Anaga Rural Park, which was put out by the Fire Consortium.
For its part, the extinction operation for this Sunday will have a total of 90 ground personnel and eight helicopters, which will work to monitor the possible reactivations of Santa Úrsula, El Sauzal and La Orotava, in addition to the liquidation of the hot spots that are found within the perimeter.
The hot conditions, with temperatures around 34 degrees, and wind, with gusts exceeding 30 kilometers per hour, are the main difficulties in carrying out the work.
The Cabildo of Tenerife asks the residents of the areas in which the extinguishing means are working to, as far as possible, avoid unnecessary travel so that the roads are available for the extinguishing vehicles and emergencies can act safely.
In addition, grade 1 measures remain activated for the prevention of forest fires, taking into account the meteorological circumstances and the alert declaration decreed by the Government of the Canary Islands on the island of Tenerife.
Specifically, it is prohibited to make fires outdoors, whether barbecues, bonfires, gas stoves, etc.; The use of any type of machinery or tool that can project sparks (brush cutters, welding equipment or cutting radials) is suspended and the use of any pyrotechnic material in risk areas is prohibited.
The Cabildo recommends not accessing or remaining in the forest areas of the island for the duration of the alert and taking extreme precautions throughout the island territory with any activity that could generate fires (tobacco, use of generating sets, electrical and pyrotechnic material , etc.).
Finally, the restrictions corresponding to grade 1 of forest fire prevention will remain active until the alert situation ends.
