The Plenary approved the urban feasibility of the clean point project promoted by the Cabildo in the Granadilla de Abona Industrial Estate (in the SP2-02 d sector). Its execution will cost 583,124 euros, the floor area will be 2,535 square meters and the upper platform, 1,059 square meters, will be occupied by a building for an information and surveillance office, toilets, warehouse and covered container area, as well as access to the containers.
The mayor, Jennifer Miranda, considers the clean point “a necessary and long-awaited infrastructure, in addition to a commitment from this municipal government group, which will work to include the corresponding economic items in the Cabildo’s budgets and to make it a reality in the next years”. She argues that it is part of the essential equipment to maintain environmental balance at the local and island level and carry out collection and management that is as sustainable and appropriate as possible.
The Councilor for Municipal Public Services and Ecological Transition, Marcos Rodríguez, remembers that it is a historic demand that will result in the aesthetics of the streets and neighborhoods. Granadilla de Abona collected 2,623 items and 1,904 points of debris last year, which translates into around 200,000 euros of expenses for the municipal Administration. The councilor defends that the fact of having a clean point of the Cabildo “would produce savings in a large part of the management fees.”
