SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 6 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Canary Islands have received this Friday the arrival of six cayucos with a total of 518 migrants since last midnight because after the boats that arrived in Gran Canaria, Tenerife and El Hierro, another three have joined throughout the morning, according to data collected by Europa Press in Maritime Rescue sources.
Thus, in the case of El Hierro, a cayuco with 112 migrants, all of sub-Saharan origin and men, was towed to the port of La Restinga by the Salvamar Adhara after being detected about 12 kilometers away, and minutes later it set sail again to escort to another to the dock with people.
In the case of Tenerife, another canoe with 85 migrants – 78 men, one minor and six women – was located about 15 kilometers from the Punta Rasca lighthouse and was accompanied to the port of Los Cristianos by the Salvamar Alpheratz.
In total, Maritime Rescue intercepted six canoes this Friday in Canary Islands waters with 518 migrants, all of sub-Saharan origin and with 484 men, eight women and 26 minors.
